As you can see this video clearly has a narrative. From listening to "If I Were A Boy" I infer that Beyoncé has been heartbroken from the lyrics "If I were a boy I think I could understand How it feels to love a girl I swear I'd be a better man I'd listen to her Cause I know how it hurts" This suggests a male hurt her and she wishes you could of been a male to be able to treat a woman properly. It is smart because we see Beyoncé as a police officer then we see her and her lover switch roles and her lover is actually the police officer. Suggesting that Men have more dominance in the world we live in.

Nelly ~ "Dilemma" ft. Kelly Rowland
|
At the beginning of this music video we are first presented with an establishing shot which is used to set the scene and let us as viewers know the setting. As the camera comes out from the trees we get an enigmatic feeling as we are unsure what we are about to see. We then see a neighbourhood supposedly called "Nellyville" which appears to be a friendly neighbourhood. We are then introduced to Nelly and then Kelly Rowland to show the contrast between the two characters to show who the "dilemma" is between. This is very old school as it means the video has a narrative and the song should have a purpose/message.

Bruno Mars ~ "Grenade"
|
Firstly, the video starts with the camera focusing on rain then showing inside the room where Bruno is voice synchronizing with the lyrics. The fact that it is raining implies sorrow for Bruno making us as an audience feel sympathetic for him. This is smart as it creates an emotional connection with the artist. Moreover, throughout the video Bruno Mars is dragging along what appears to be a piano through several locations this could suggest he has gone through a lot and he has a burden to carry. To support this at the end of the video the final destination for the piano and Bruno is a rail road where the video ends with a train supposedly running them over.

This video was influential to me as in it Meek Mill is in his hometown Philadelphia where he is roaming the streets looking quite smart to show his return at the time in his newest album at the time which was "Wins and Losses". Furthermore, through the cinematography in shots such as close ups we can see Meek's pain as he is out of prison and just wants to see his family.

The main reason I liked this video was because the artists are expressing the happiness of their success through the music by just having a good time and living life. As a fan this makes me feel connected to the artists as I feel like I am there with them. Moreover, the use of handheld camera work is great as it really gives that party feel due to the sloppiness it provides.

I really liked these video due to its smoothness and how clean the video is even though there are several transitions and the background colour changes several times the video still is very clear and clean. The editing in my opinion is what made this video so successful due to all the different effects and editing techniques used. I also like how their is a lot of culture in the video relating to the genre of the video, this can be seen through the clothes worn and the makeup/ face paint on the girls.

This video is inspiring and I really like the use of Mise-en-scene throughout the entire video through almost every aspect such as clothing, lighting and just props in general. Furthermore, as a heterosexual male I really enjoy seeing Rihanna in typical seductive positions and in total the video just has a really nice vibe to it.

One aspect I liked about this video is how it fits into the "Hip-hop" genre so well through elements such as the cloths Future is wearing which is very trendy. Likewise, with his hairstyle which to me connotates freedom and creativity.
